NATIONWIDE – Over 550,000 trucks and SUVs in North America are being recalled by Ford due to a seat strength issue.
What this means exactly, is that those in the vehicles are not properly restrained if in the event of a crash.
The recall covers certain vehicles that have a manual driver or front passenger seat-back recliner mechanisms.
Those vehicles effects include certain 2018 – 2020 F-150 pickups, 2019 – 2020 Super Duty trucks, 2018 – 2019 Explorer SUVs, and 2019 – 2020 Expedition SUVs.
Ford also included that some 2020 Explorer and Lincoln Aviators SUVs with rear seats manual seat-back mechanisms are on the recall list as well.
Ford stated the trucks may not have a third pawl needed for seat strength, causing the risk of injury in a crash a greater possibility.
The company is unaware of any known crashes or injuries requiring the need for this recall.
Car dealers will inspect the seat structures and will exchange them if needed.
Most of the vehicles are expected to pass inspection.
Owners will start receiving notices by October 7th, 2019.
