KERRVILLE, Texas — A routine traffic patrol, led to a DWI arrest and the discovery of marijuana in a vehicle Tuesday night, according to the Kerrville Police Department.
A KPD officer was on patrol Tuesday evening, at about 7:42 PM on March 24, when he observed a vehicle driving erratically, according to Public Information Sergeant Jonathon Lamb.
“The driver of the vehicle stopped for an unusually long amount of time in the middle of the intersection of Jackson Road and Methodist Encampment, drove on the wrong side of the road, sped up and slowed down without reason, and nearly struck another vehicle,” said Sergeant Lamb. “The officer conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of Valley Drive.”
According to KPD, the driver exhibited symptoms of intoxication and was arrested after Standardized Field sobriety testing.
Chelsea Fernandez, 32, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age.
KPD said that a minor child, under the age of 15, was in the vehicle when it was stopped.
The child was turned over to a responsible party and Child Protective Services was notified and provided a case number regarding the incident.
Police said that a useable amount of Marijuana was also located in the vehicle.
Fernandez later provided a blood specimen, according to KPD, and was taken to the Kerr County Jail.
