The following is a direct press release from the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office.

Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested one male subject on charges related to a stolen vehicle Thursday afternoon, April 30th.

At approximately 2:37 pm, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 2014 Mercedes Benz near the intersection of US Highway 290 East and Jenschke Lane for a traffic violation (speeding).

In the process of making contact with the male driver, and sole occupant, the deputy asked the driver some basic questions about the vehicle in which he had difficulty answering.

The deputy soon learned the license plate on the vehicle did not match the actual vehicle, and after verifying the vehicle identification number, it came back stolen out of Boerne, TX as it had been reported to the Boerne Police Department.

The driver, 41-years-old, of San Antonio, TX, was arrested and charged with Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle and transported to the Gillespie County Jail without incident.

The Boerne Police Department is also conducting their own investigation.
