WELSACO – A 13-year-old faces a third-degree felony charge for terroristic threat after being arrested at the Weslaco Walmart for allegedly making violent threats on social media.
Police were called to the Walmart at 1310 N. Texas on Wednesday, August 7 at approximately 10:50 p.m. and secured the area and made contact with the store manager who decided to close the store for everybody’s safety.
Weslaco police said they identified the individual as a 13-year-old male as a result of an investigation with the assistance of the FBI and Weslaco’s Facebook followers.
The 13-year-old was brought to the police station on Thursday, August 8 after receiving calls informing her of her son’s threats.
After a search on their residence and vehicles, police did not recover any firearms, said WPD.
The juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.
