GILLESPIE COUNTY – A woman accused of walking out on her tab at Mamacita’s and providing false information to the restaurant and police was arrested after a traffic stop, according to the Gillespie County Sheriff’s Office.
GCSO stated that the arrest took place on Thursday, August 15 at approximately 10:45 p.m. when a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for a traffic violation in the 16000 block of US Highway 290 East.
When the deputy relayed the vehicle information to Gillespie County Communications they reportedly learned that the Fredericksburg Police Department had responded to Mamacita’s in Fredericksburg earlier that evening and the vehicle was said to be involved.
The deputy made contact with the driver, said to be a 44-year-old Blanco woman, and learned that her driver’s license was suspended, said GCSO.
FPD stated to the deputy that the suspect had walked out on her tab at Mamacita’s and provided the staff with a false identification card and a credit card that wasn’t in her name.
The vehicle, as the deputy learned, was allegedly stolen out of San Antonio.
The woman was charged with Driving While License Invalid – Enhanced, Resisting Arrest Search or Transport, Theft >=$2,500 < $30,000 and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1 < 1 Gram (methamphetamine). She was taken to the Gillespie County Jail.
GCSO added that after an inventory was conducted on the vehicle, mail and several other items such as checks, identification and credit cards that did not belong to the suspect were discovered.
Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues, concluded officials.
