Three siblings swept away by waves at Sylvan Beach, bodies recovered late Thursday

LA PORTE – After being overcome by beach waves, the deceased bodies of three siblings have been recovered from the Sylvan Beach in La Porte on Thursday, August 8.

Four siblings were reportedly swimming and went beyond a water safety buoy when they were overcome by waves due to the strong tides and rip currents in the late afternoon hours.

One sibling was rescued after resurfacing and was treated by EMS.

Two of the siblings’ bodies were recovered from the water at approximately 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, said Ed Gonzalez, Harris County Sheriff.

The search remained for the fourth sibling until their body was also found a short time later.

The three deceased children’s ages were said to be 7, 22, and 13.
