KENDALL COUNTY – The Texas Hold’em Poker tournament fundraising event for Sgt. Matthew Johnson’s Stage IV Colon Cancer treatments is coming up this weekend on June 23.

Johnson was diagnosed with cancer nearly a year ago and the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office said, “This man has fought the good fight with gloves on and gloves off!”

It was announced that Johnson learned this past week that his cancer diagnosis has left him with an estimated 10 weeks left of his life.

The fundraising event this weekend will be held at the Kendall Plantation and will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Activities at this event include: a Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament, silent auction, BBQ dinner plates, kids bounce house, face painting, washer tournament, corn hole tournament, and a donut eating costume.

All proceeds from this event will go directly to Matthew Johnson and his family.

Sgt. Johnson is said to be an Ingram Tom Moore High School graduate.
