DALLAS – During an investigation into the death of 9-year-old Brandoniya Bennett, the Dallas Police Department has made a second arrest in connection to the shooting that occurred after an argument between two rappers.
The shooting happened on August 14 when an argument ensued between two rappers, Davonte Benton, 19, and Tyrese Simmons over “diss tracks.”
It was said that Bennett was inside her residence in the 3500 block of Munger Avenue when she was hit by gunfire and killed.
Dallas Police Maj. Danny Williams stated, “She was sitting in her house. She felt safe.”
DPD reportedly took Benton into custody on Thursday on the charge of capital murder.
It was previously said that Simmons was also charged with capital murder after he turned himself in to police just a few days after the incident took place.
Simmons and Benton both remain in Dallas County Jail.
