Two in critical condition and one dead after overnight standoff in Bexar County

BEXAR COUNTY — An overnight standoff ended with the suspect dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

BCSO says they were dispatched to a residence at the 8800 block of Straight Oaks at around midnight Saturday night for a shooting in progress.

“Witnesses reported that a male was seen dragging a female in the front yard of the residence,” said a press release from BCSO PIO Johnny Garcia.

The male suspect, 39, allegedly shot the 39-year-old female victim multiple times in the torso and also shot a male victim, 38, in the face and upper torso.

Both victims are in critical condition at this time after being transported to University Hospital by ambulance.

BCSO says they set up a perimeter after the suspect barricaded himself in the residence.

“The Negotiation Team and SWAT Team arrived on scene to assist with the intent of a peaceful resolution.”

The suspect was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after about 5 hours of negotiating.

BCSO says the SWAT team used compliance tactics to try and get the suspect to surrender, but the suspect would not comply.

We will update this article when the suspect’s name is released, pending notification of next of kin.
