SAN MARCOS – A homicide investigation is underway for a murder that took place yesterday, reported the San Marcos Police Department.
Officers responded to a report of a burglary of a habitation at the Village in the 300 block of Telluride on June 5 at approximately 7:10 a.m.
SMPD stated that as officers arrived, a witness who lives at the complex told them that they found a loose dog and followed it to an apartment. As the witness arrived at the apartment, they discovered that the door was kicked in and proceeded to call the San Marcos Police Department.
The victim was found dead from apparent gunshot wounds, said SMPD. Officials identified the deceased as Demarcus Trey Allen, 23. Allen was pronounced deceased at the scene at 8:40 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Maggie H. Moreno.
SMPD also added that two residents and one additional roommate from the apartment upstairs are being interviewed by SMPD Criminal Investigation Division detectives.
According to the San Marcos Police Department, this was the fifth homicide in 2019 in San Marcos.
