WHARTON – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) seized over $700,000 cash during a traffic stop on June 3 near Wharton, according to DPS officials.
The traffic stop was initiated by a trooper on US-59 on Monday and the law enforcement agency reported that a total of $785,511.00 was seized as a result.
The seizure was made possible in part by the Texas Highway Patrol, DPS Special Agents with the Criminal Investigation Division, and the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit.
A money laundering investigation is currently underway.
