UPDATE: Almost 24 hours later, thousands still without power throughout San Antonio, HEB offers help

SAN ANTONIO – Thursday, June 6th, around 5 p.m.in the evening, Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for San Antonio, Lackland Air Force Base, and Kirby. Those heavy storms brought large wind gusts, hail and lighting into San Antonio, just north of the downtown area.





 

Over 58,000 City Public Service Energy customers are without power due to the storms. CPS crews have been working throughout the night to restore power to the area but have had some delays due to lightning strikes within the storm.

 





Nearly 24 hours later, still thousands of CPS Energy customers are still without power. HEB Markets is providing an Emergency Response Team to help aid those affected by the outage.

 

From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. TODAY, the location at Woodlawn Park (1103 Cincinnati Ave.) is distributing bags of ice to those who need it. Customers will be limited to three bags of ice per person.
