UPDATE: Officer who shot and killed Atatiana Jefferson released on bond

UPDATE: Former Fort Worth officer Aaron Dean was reportedly released on bond Monday night.

According to Interim Police Chief Ed Kraus, Dean posted his $200,000 bond hours after he was arrested and Charged with the Murder of Atatiana Jefferson.

Chief Kraus said during a press conference Tuesday morning that the officers did not ring the home’s doorbell or announce their arrival at the residence because they apparently believed they were responding to an “open structure” call rather than a “welfare check.”

This means rather than searching the home to make sure the occupants were safe, they believed the home had been broken into.

According to USA Today, officials released an arrest warrant in which Atatiana’s 8-year-old nephew stated she pointed a gun towards her bedroom window as they heard suspicious noises coming from the backyard.

Chief Kraus said during the press conference that it “made sense she (Atatiana) would have a gun if she felt that she was being threatened or that there was someone in the back yard.”

    Here’s a thought:

Cops are supposed to be held to a higher standard. Tat being so, charge them with higher crimes when they shoot and kill an innocent person. Include longer jail sentences too.

What do you think about this?
