NY’s Charging Bull statue damaged by Dallas man, suspect faces multiple charges

DALLAS – A man from Dallas is facing multiple criminal charges after allegedly hitting New York’s Charging Bull statue with a metal object, leaving a hole in one of its horns.

The Dallas resident, 42-year-old Tevon Varlack, was arrested on Saturday when he hit the bull’s right horn with what appeared to be a banjo, according to authorities.

The motive behind Varlack’s actions has not been determined at this time.

The bronze bull, weighing 7,100 pounds, was installed in lower Manhattan by artist Arturo Di Modica in 1989 as a gift to America.

Varlack faces charges of criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, and criminal possession of a weapon.
