DALLAS, Texas — A mother and daughter from Los Angeles were arrested at Dallas Love Field after trying to smuggle over 60 pounds of marijuana in their luggage.

41-year-old Bridget Deque Wilkins and 22-year-old Victoria Denee Wilkins are each facing one second-degree felony count of possession of marijuana, according to CBSDFW.

An arrest affidavit says a detective working at the airport Thursday morning smelled marijuana from a bag that had been unloaded from the plane the women had arrived on.

A drug-detection dog gave a positive alert to their luggage as well.

According to Dallas Morning News, Bridget told officers she and her daughter were visiting Dallas for the weekend but had not booked a place to stay.

She reportedly admitted to having marijuana in her luggage and consented to a search of her bags.

CBSDFW reports officers discovered drugs double bagged, vacuum-sealed, placed into larger bags, wrapped in clothes, and vacuum-sealed again.

Dallas Morning News says police found 27 of the bundles in Bridget’s luggage and 36 bundles in Victoria’s.

Police reportedly seized over 62 pounds of marijuana from the two.

Reports say Bridget and Victoria were released from the Dallas County Jail after posting $5,000 bond each.
