DILLEY – Officers with the Dilley Police Department obstructed a human smuggling attempt during an attempted traffic stop on a white pickup truck that resulted in a small vehicle chase.
Officers conducted the traffic stop on HWY 117 near Dilley on Sunday, August 18. DPD reported that when the officers turned on their lights, the male driver fled, driving through a fence at the intersection of Houston and Obregon.
DPD said that the driver, along with 10 or more undocumented immigrants, ran and hid in the brush but were later apprehended.
Dilley Police Chief Romo stated, “I truly believe we deterred and disrupted local transnational crime organizations involved in human smuggling.”
When the vehicle was run through communication, it was listed as stolen out of San Antonio.
