SAN ANTONIO, Texas A man was left in critical condition after he was shot while allegedly slashing tires in an apartment complex parking lot.

According to San Antonio Police Chief McManus, a resident of the North Side apartment complex shot the man with a small caliber handgun.

MySA reports that the 23-year-old man had been evicted from the Park West Apartments located at the 11800 block of West Avenue.

After packing his car, the man allegedly began slashing tires in the parking lot Friday morning.

Sources say a 31-year-old resident, one of the vehicle owners, came out of his apartment and shot the 23-year-old.

Chief McManus says the shooter told police the man was trying to rob him.

According to MySA, a disturbance earlier in the day is what escalated the shooting.

Investigators are unsure of the relationship between the men involved in this shooting.

The 23-year-old was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
