AUSTIN – A man was arrested following the discovery of at least 30 illegal images of child pornography that were found in his possession by Austin Police.
Police say that Michael David Sneed, 31, was arrested after investigators were alerted by Cybertips that several files of apparent child pornography images were being uploaded to Yahoo and Twitter.
An arrest affidavit stated that the images had been uploaded since at least November 2018 and depicted young girls in lewd positions.
Upon an investigation, APD found at least 30 images of illegal photos showing children on Sneed’s online accounts.
The affidavit continued to say that while many of the images discovered were not illegal, they showed modeling photos of young girls with watermarks from a company known for producing child pornography.
A subpoena for Sneed’s Facebook, Twitter, and AT&T U-Verse accounts revealed the images.
When police arrived to arrest Sneed in August, they reported that he was found inside his apartment with a cell phone holding even more illegal child pornography images.
Sneed was said by police to have admitted to sharing and distributing the images with other online users.
Sneed faces a second-degree felony promotion of child pornography charge.
