HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is currently investigating a strange and disheartening event that occurred at 6061 Beverly Hill Street at Fountain View around 4 p.m. yesterday afternoon.
According to officials, a man and his dog were struck by a vehicle while out for a walk, both were killed in the accident.
The driver of the vehicle was a 12-year-old girl, which has Houston PD puzzled, attempting to piece together the situation.
Several neighbors say the man could be seen often walking his dogs, yet no one knows how or why the child was behind the wheel of the vehicle.
According to witnesses, police officers were seen given the child a field sobriety test, “They did her like she was drunk,” one woman said. “We were wondering why they would do that test on her if she’s just like a teenager, she’s not supposed to be drunk or anything.”
Another neighbor said, “That’s the big question, I mean for me, I would never allow my children behind the wheel of a car, especially not at that age. Very tragic for that gentleman and his dog to be hit and killed.”
Neighbors say the child is back home and with her family.
This developing case is currently under investigation.
