AUSTIN, Texas — Austin police arrested a man they believe was drunk driving the night he crashed his car, resulting in his passenger’s death.

Sources with KVUE say 45-year-old Michael Boisse was taken into custody after the crash that occurred just before midnight on November 30.

Officers who arrived on scene in the 8500 block of S. Congress Ave. reportedly found 50-year-old Mark Evans dead in the back seat of Boisse’s car.

Police say Boisse told officers he was driving northbound on Congress Avenue when he attempted to turn left across two southbound lanes to enter a parking lot where a bar was located.

When Boisse turned he crossed the path of an oncoming car.

The car reportedly hit the back-right side passenger door of Boisse’s car.

Police say the impact killed Mark.

Officers who searched Boisse’s car allegedly discovered a large cup in the center console that was filled with what smelt like alcohol.

Police say they also found several beer cans under the car “in a manner consistent with being thrown out and concealed.”

Boisse, who was suspected of being intoxicated, was taken to Austin Police Department Headquarters where a blood test allegedly revealed there was alcohol present in his blood.

Records show Boisse is currently in jail facing Charges for Intoxication Manslaughter.

His bond has been set at $100,000.
