UPDATE: One deceased after officer-involved shooting in Kerrville, KPD says suspect threatened officer with knife

UPDATE: The Kerrville Police Department issued a press release Sunday afternoon stating that an officer-involved shooting occurred after a suspect threatened a Kerrville police officer with a knife.

The incident happened at the 900 block of Sidney Baker Sunday afternoon at approximately 3:36 pm.

KPD says they received a report of a man waving a knife around. When officers made contact, the suspect was found to be armed with a knife and threatened an officer.

”Fearing for his life, the Officer on scene drew his weapon and shot the suspect,” said the press release.

The Justice of the Peace pronounce the suspect deceased shortly after.

KPD says the man’s identity is still unknown at this time.

The Officer has been placed on a non-punitive administrative leave pending an investigation.

The investigation will be carried out jointly between Kerrville Police Department, Texas DPS, and the Texas Rangers.

KERRVILLE (4:15 pm)— Police are investigating a possible officer-involved shooting at the 900 Block of Sidney Baker that occurred at approximately 3:35 Sunday afternoon.

One person is deceased and the Kerrville Police Department has crime scene tape up around a tobacco store on Sidney Baker.

Several witnesses at the scene say they saw a man carrying a large knife walking down Sidney Baker, one of whom called police.
