CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (TexasBreaking.com)- Nueces County Jailer Angel Martinez, 24, was arrested on Tuesday for murder after a warrant was issued by the Nueces County Sheriff’s Office.
The Nueces County Sheriff J.C. Hooper said that Martinez was arrested on the same day the warrant was issued. He is being held in the Nueces County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
The murder reportedly took place on May 5, 2018, in the 5800 block of Kimbrough Drive around 1 a.m. The victim was identified as Mark Anthony Rios, 21.
It was said by investigators that Rios was crawling through a window at the residence to see a girl when he was shot multiple times.
Authorities were told by witnesses that after Rios attempted to enter the home through the door but couldn’t get in so he broke through a window.
Martinez was said to be at the residence and allegedly shot at Rios several times.
Upon the arrival of police, Rios was found dead inside the residence.
Martinez has been placed on administrative leave without pay. He has also been terminated from his job at the Nueces County Jail, according to Sheriff Hooper.
The investigation is underway by the Corpus Christi Police Department.
