HEB’s Charles C. Butt recognized as No. 2 CEO in America


SAN ANTONIO – Yesterday, the winners of the Glassdoor annual Employee’s Choice Awards and Top CEOs in 2019 were announced with H E B’s Charles C. Butt coming in second place for Top CEO with a 99% approval rating.

According to Glassdoor, one of the world’s largest job and recruiting sites, the Glassdoor Employee’s Choice Awards are based on the input of employees who voluntarily provide feedback by completing an anonymous company review with Glassdoor. The review covers topics such as the CEO’s leadership, insights into their job, work environment and employer over the past year.

A list of the ten Top CEOs in 2019 was provided by Glassdoor:

8. LinkedIn’s Jeff Weiner (97% approval)
9. Intuitive Surgical’s Gary S. Guthart (97% approval)
10. Best Buy’s Hubert Joly (97% approval)

According to CEO Today, Charles C. Butt inherited the H E B company from his father, Howard Edward Butt Sr. in 1971, acting as President, Chairman, and CEO.

CEO Today also stated that Charles grew the company from annual sales totaling $250 million in 1971 to $13 billion in 2006.

H E B was founded in Kerrville, Texas in 1905 by Florence Butt, Charles’ grandmother.
