Fredericksburg Christmas parade cancelled due to Friday’s potential storms

FREDERICKSBURG, Tx. (HCBN)- The Light The Night Christmas Parade that was set to happen this Friday, December 7, has been cancelled by the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce. They cite that the reason for the cancellation is because of the storms and high winds that are possible in the area on Friday night.

“The safety of our parade entrants, guests and attendees is our primary concern,” says the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce in a Facebook post.

Penny McBride, president and CEO of the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce tells the Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post, “This is being done in the interest of public safety. We can deal with rain alone, but the chance of lightning led us to call it off for this year. We were getting lots of inquiries from people who were building floats, so we decided to call it off today rather than have them do that work for nothing.”

The Fredericksburg Standard-Radio Post adds, “McBride said the Chamber would reach out to those who purchased reserved bleacher seating to offer a make-good at next year’s parade.”

The Chamber plans to have their annual Light The Night Parade next year. As the 2019 holiday season approaches, the date will be announced.
