HOUSTON, Texas A Harris County deputy constable was shot during a robbery last night in northwest Houston.

Sources with KTRK say the deputy was attempting to stop a robbery at a Five Guys on North Shepherd when several shots were fired at him.

The Precinct 5 deputy was reportedly working as a security guard at the establishment.

KTRK reports the deputy was sitting outside the restaurant in his vehicle when he saw a suspect enter the restaurant wearing a ski mask and carrying a semi-automatic weapon at about 8:30 p.m.

Investigators believe the deputy waited outside for the suspect to exit the Five Guys because there were customers inside.

However, the suspect reportedly caught sight of the deputy and fired at least four shots.

KTRK says the deputy was only shot in the arm.

A nearby citizen administered first aid to the deputy before he was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Sources say the suspect is still at large.

Witnesses described him as a black male standing at approximately 6’3″ tall, wearing a green sweat suit.

The suspect was seen fleeing the scene in a white Dodge Charger.
