BEXAR COUNTY – On Monday afternoon, deputies with the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office stopped the attempted escape of jail inmate Sergio Pablo Huerta, 33.
According to BCSO, Huerta never left the secured area of the jail so there was no threat to the public.
BCSO stated that the deputy in Huerta’s newly assigned unit noticed that he did not arrive and began a face to face observation check confirming that the inmate was not in the unit.
As the deputy contacted booking to attempt to find Huerta, he was located in a cell used for inmates pending release, said officials.
When Huerta was found, he was placed into Emergency Management Intensive Supervision Status.
An investigation of the attempted escape is underway by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Public Integrity Unit, Internal Affairs, and Criminal Investigations Division.
BCSO added that on top of Huerta’s original Felon in Possession of a Firearm, 3rd-degree felony, and Possession of a Controlled Substance, State Jail Felony, he also faces an Attempted Escape charge.
