Cody Adams Memorial Scholarship aims to provide a high school graduate with a scholarship to college

Cody Adams was a Center Point High School graduate. He was a drum major for 3 years and was passionate about playing the drums in the Center Point band, playing for 7 years. He loved racing and enjoyed cruising around the Hill Country in his 2006 Mustang GT.

Tragically, at the age of 18, Cody Adams was killed by a drunk driver on May 9, 2014.

The Adams family wanted to honor their son’s memory by deciding to start a Scholarship Fund in his name.

To raise money for the Cody Adams Scholarship Fund, every year in the month of May, the family gathers together with loved ones and friends to “Cruise for Cody.”

They sell t-shirts each year and have been able to raise $1,500 each year for the first three years. The family gifts this money to a graduating band senior going to a college or university.

Last year, the Adams family started a car show, Cody Car Show, to help raise even more money for the scholarship. Fifty participants attended and with the help of family, friends, and car show attendees, the family was able to raise $4,500 for their fund.

This year the family will be holding another “Cody Car Show” on July 21, 2018, starting at 8 AM at the Hill Country Youth Exhibit Center.

Cody’s mother, Dawn Adams, describes the upcoming car show, “Along with some awesome cars to check out, we will have a silent auction, raffle, door prizes, breakfast tacos and barbecue plates. We would love for the local communities to come check it out!”

Anyone who would like to make a donation to the Cody Adams Memorial Scholarship fund is encouraged to join them at their second annual Cody Car Show. If you are interested in donating but can’t make it to the show, donors can do so at Kerr County Federal Credit Union under the Cody Adams Memorial Scholarship Account.

Mrs. Adams shared this as well, “I always asked him, ‘what’s up?’ His reply was always, ‘Everything above my head!”
