Austin Fire Department rescues five tiny kittens from storm drain

AUSTIN  — The Austin Fire Department (AFD) was called out a call where the caller said it sounded like a cat crying for two days in a storm drain.

When the B-shift crew from Engine 28 responded to the call at the Hardrock Canyon Apartments, they heard a cat crying as well. Firefighter Michael Richardson started the search by crawling into the hole.

AFD says that Firefighter Richardson found 5 teen tiny kittens in the storm drain.

“After retrieving the fuzzy felines, the crew built a pseudo corral from 5-inch hose to keep them safe until Animal Control could arrive and take them to a shelter,” stated an AFD press release.

The Austin Fire Department said that they are happy to report that the precious pussycats are now doing very well.
