Austin man charged with DWI and Intoxication Manslaughter after wrong-way collision with motorcycle

AUSTIN — An Austin man has been charged with two crimes related to a collision with a motorcycle Labor Day weekend while allegedly driving on the wrong way of the street.

The Austin Police Department says that Dionnet Suarez De La Cruz, age 34, was arrested for DWI and Intoxication Manslaughter Sunday morning at around 5 am.

APD says that De La Cruz was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Metric Boulevard in North Austin when he struck a motorcycle traveling northbound head-on.

The driver of the motorcycle, 25-year-old Felipe Ramirez, was pronounced dead at the scene. He would have been 26 this month.

This tragedy marks the 54th fatality of 2019 in Travis County.
