AUSTIN – Tuesday, June 11th, Austin fire crew received a call from dispatch around 2:25 p.m.in the afternoon about a fire located at an apartment complex in the 8400 block of Riverstone Drive.
In a second-floor apartment after the fire started in the kitchen, two people were unable to escape, firefighters used ladders to help rescue the two people from the burning apartment through the windows, and the crew on the ground spent 15 minutes getting the flames under control, according to Shift Commander Andre Jordan.
Austin-Travis County EMS medics examined the two and they did not suffer any injuries that were expected to be life-threatening according to Jordan.
The blaze was contained to the single unit of the quadplex, there is no estimate on the amount of damage at this time.
