BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — The grandfather of the 14-year-old child believed to have accidentally shot a 13-year-old victim who died in northern Bexar County after an accidental shooting has been charged with Making a Firearm Accessible to a Child resulting in Severe Bodily Injury or Death.

Robert Lee Voigt, 75, was charged and arrested for the crime Monday after the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office had to wait for a period of seven days to bring the charge against him.

The children were in a secondary RV living quarters where the 14-year-old suspect lived by himself when the shooting took place.

The 14-year-old suspect allegedly told police initially that the 13-year-old was cleaning the gun and shot himself when the accidental shooting took place.

Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said Monday that the most likely scenario was that the 14-year-old pulled the trigger and was holding the weapon at the time that the 13-year old victim was shot.

The 14-year-old has been charged with Manslaughter, according to Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar.

When deputies arrived at the shooting scene, they observed a Savage Arms multi-caliber rifle on the floor of the recreational vehicle and a magazine containing several rounds was also located inside of the recreational vehicle, according to the arrest affidavit.

When Voight’s grandson, the 14-year-old suspect, was questioned, his grandson allegedly stated that the suspect bought the gun for him and the suspect allegedly agreed.

“The suspect stated he and his grandchild bought the weapon from Academy a couple of months ago,” stated the Affidavit. “The suspect’s grandchild stated he took the weapon to the recreational vehicle, from his grandfather’s residence, to clean it.”

According to the affidavit, the suspect never stated he did not allow his grandchild to take the weapon nor did he deny not having knowledge of his grandchild taking the weapon without permission.

Bexar County Sheriff’s Office ran the weapon through the Department of Justice Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives National Tracing Center and the purchase information returned to Robert Voight.

The affidavit also accuses Voight of failing to secure the rifle and leaving the rifle in a place where he knew it could be accessed by children, the same rifle that the suspect’s grandchild discharged and caused the death of the victim.

Voight was booked into the Bexar County Jail Monday on the Class A Misdemeanor with a bond amount of $7500.

CONVERSE, Texas — A convicted sex offender is behind bars after being accused of video recording a family member in the bathroom of the residence that they shared.

Jon Eric, Gilliland, 54, a registered sex offender, is facing two charges being Invasive Video Recording and Failure to Register as a Sex Offender Annually.

The victim reported to police that she heard a beeping sound in the restroom of their residence while she was talking to her friend on the phone. They had both heard the noise. She followed the noise and found a portable small remote camera hidden in a shelf in the restroom.

According to an affidavit, the victim said the camera was set up to view the entire bathroom, including the shower, sink, and toilet.

The victim then removed the SD card from the camera and put it back on the shelf and moved out of the residence without confronting the Defendant.

Upon viewing the contents on the SD card, she found videos of herself both partially and completely naked coming from the shower, using the bathroom and changing her clothes.

She also told police that the Defendant had named the video segments of her on the SD card names inappropriate names depending on what the defendant captured while filming.

When the victim told another family member about the contents of the SD card, they reported the Invasive Video Recording to police, who then arrested and charged Gilliland subsequently.

Gilliland also had his address listed as Haven for Hope in San Antonio and failed to provide his address in Converse to police, so he was also charged with Failure to Register as a Sex Offender Annually.

BEXAR COUNTY Police have arrested a 17-year-old on Charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault after he snuck into the bedroom of a 12-year-old girl and impregnated her, according to an affidavit.

Suspect Alfonso Macias Sosa allegedly snuck into the victim’s bedroom through a second story window and had sexual intercourse with the 12-year-old on July 21 of this year.

The alleged assault occurred about a week after the two met at a pool party that summer.

The victim’s grandmother, her legal guardian, told investigators she was unaware of the defendant until she discovered him sleeping in the victim’s bedroom closet on August 19.

Sosa reportedly fled the apartment through the second story bedroom window.

Police say the victim then ran away from the apartment and followed Sosa, never returning home and prompting her grandmother to make a runaway report with SAPD.

Three days later the victim was taken to the hospital after her grandmother located her at Sosa’s residence.

The victim had reportedly complained to her school nurse about stomach pains and ran away after her grandmother attempted to schedule a medical checkup for her.

Once at the hospital the victim found out she was eight weeks pregnant.

The 12-year-old revealed to her grandmother and the hospital staff that she had been sexually active with Sosa earlier that summer.

During forensic interviews held on September 12, the victim told investigators she had been sexually active with Sosa and that he was the father of her child.

According to the arrest affidavit, the victim described the sexual intercourse in detail to the investigators.

The victim then told investigators after her grandmother discovered him in her bedroom closet that she left with him and stayed at his residence for a while.

According to the victim, Sosa had been attempting to help support her by finding a job.

Sources say that during forensic interviews the grandmother told police a family member had discovered Sosa sleeping in the victim’s bedroom closet a second time.

Sosa was arrested Monday morning and booked into the Bexar County Jail.

He is being Charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault – Child.

Sosa’s bond has been set at $50,000.
