Odessa Police arrest alleged drunk driver who hit and killed twin girls Wednesday evening

ODESSA – Wednesday, July 3rd, Odessa Police have arrested a woman for allegedly driving while intoxicated and hitting two small twin 6-year-old girls on Highway 80 and Club Drive.


Both the Odessa Police Department and Odessa Fire Department responded incident in the area around 9:00 p.m. and discovered a gray Chrysler 200 had been traveling eastbound on the north service road of East Highway 80.

The driver of the vehicle, Angelica Garcia, age 36, had apparently traveled through a barricade and struck the two girls who were standing nearby a firework stand, which was owned and operated by their family. The twin girls were transported to Medical Center Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Odessa Police’s investigation discovered Garcia may have been intoxicated during the incident.  Garcia has been arrested and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center, she was released on a $35,000 bond.

Garcia could be facing two counts of intoxication manslaughter, and if found guilty face up to 40 years in prison.
