Kendall County Sheriff announces death of deputy along with injured deputy’s condition during press conference


UPDATE (7/2/19 3:42 p.m.) – The Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputy who lost his life after a truck struck him while he was conducting a traffic stop has been identified by Kendall County Sheriff Al Auxier as Carlos Ramirez.

Deputy Ramirez was said to have worked with the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office since December 2016 and was an Army Reservist as well. KCSO said that Ramirez was deployed to Africa in February 2018 and returned to the department in April 2019.

Authorities stated that Deputy Ramirez leaves behind a wife and two young children.

KCSO expressed their condolences to the family during this difficult time and ensured them the department would be there for them to help them endure this loss.

Along with Deputy Ramirez, another unnamed deputy was injured at the scene and was transported to the hospital where he was later released.

At this time, KCSO added that the scene is still being worked by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).

UPDATE – During a routine traffic stop that took place around 7:30 a.m. this morning, on Tuesday, July 2nd, a second Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputy has been reported severely injured after getting struck by another vehicle while conducting a routine traffic stop this morning.

The accident occurred on I-10 according to Kendall County EMS. The deputy who was killed at the scene of the accident was reported to be with the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office since 2016 and had just returned from an Army deployment.


BOERNE – It has been confirmed by Kendall County officials that a Kendall County Sheriff’s Deputy has died after getting struck by another vehicle while conducting a routine traffic stop this morning.

The incident took place at approximately 7:30 a.m. when the deputy reportedly pulled over a vehicle for a traffic stop. According to KCSO, the deputy was struck by a black pickup truck.

The deputy’s identity has not yet been released.
