DALHART – A natural gas explosion from a gas leak that caused an active fire in a gas line was successfully extinguished by the Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department.
On July 6 at approximately 10:54 p.m., six units with the Dalhart Volunteer Fire Department, along with the Dallam Sheriff’s Office, the Hartley Sherriff’s Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety, and WTG responded to FM 1727 to a report of a fire from a possible explosion.
As firefighters arrived at the scene, they discovered a house that had exploded due to a natural gas leak that caused a fire to come out of the gas line, according to Dalhart VFD.
As authorities searched the area and contained the scene, two individuals were found to have suffered injuries from the explosion.
The incident is currently being investigated by the Dalhart Fire Marshal, the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and the Railroad Commission.
