HIDALGO – Four bodies were discovered near the Rio Grande River in a brushy area southeast of the Anzalduas Park in Las Paloma Wildlife Management Area on Sunday evening.
According to the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office, the deceased were believed to be two infants, one toddler, and a 20-year-old woman.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is heading the investigation due to the bodies being found on federal property.
The official cause of death for the four individuals is unknown but investigators believe they may have died from dehydration.
Officials added that the location where the victims were found is a know human smuggling area, known as “The Devil’s Corner.”
