According to the Kerrville Police Department, they will be hosting their 9th Annual Junior Citizen Police Academy for children 11-14 years of age. The Academy will be held at the Doyle School Community Center, located at 110 West Barnett St, starting June 11 through June 22, 2018. Classes will be held daily from 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
A range of topics will be covered including Basic Introduction to Criminal Law, Mock Traffic Stops, Evidence Collection, Fingerprinting, and Special Operations Unit.
This FREE academy is a great experience which motivates young adults to be outstanding citizens through law enforcement education and gives a behind-the-scenes look at a working police department. Applicants must live within Kerr County entering into the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade in August 2018, either attending a school within Kerr County, Kerrville ISD or participating in a home-school program. Application packets will be available at the front lobby reception desk at the Kerrville Police Department.
Applicants will be accepted on a first come first served basis. No application packets will be accepted after 5 PM on June 1, 2018, and class size will be limited to 24 cadets. Any questions regarding the Academy may be directed to Officer Juan Travizo (830) 258-1371.
